7/14 Rain Run

I ran The Woodlands again and got my worst time ever, 21:51. My training has slowed to a snail's pace but that should change soon. I plan to set my sights on the 5k event at the Chevron Houston Marathon on the 13th of January. This should motivate me towards quality work-outs and it gives my plenty of training time during the fantasic fall and winter weather here. All-in-all I'm pleased with how things have gone over the past 5 months. I've come a long way and the race in January will be very close to the year point (2/9) of training for me. I've been waiting for pictures to be posted but it still hasn't happened yet. If it does, I'll update.

Reversal of Fortune

I was watching Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest on the 4th and thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was hilarious, amazing and disgusting all rolled into one. One of the many highlights was a rule called the "reversal of fortune" (no throwing up). I loved it. And today I had a reversal of fortune of my own.

I didn't throw up but things do seem to be going backward as the summer moves forward. I went on a 4 mile trail run today for the first time in several weeks and found that my legs were exhausted. Normally it's the lungs that give out before all but not this time. I can attribute this reversal of fortune to treadmill running. But it was still nice to get out and enjoy the run-able weather today.

Here's a picture of my birthday stuff:

- T-shirt from Britt
- Mp3 player from Mom & Day
- Shorts, watch and arm holder from Miners (via giftcard)

4 Miles - 32 min (8 min/mile)

A Couple More Runs

I'm not sure how much longer I'll keep reporting daily runs on here. I found a website that will log everything for me and serve that purpose much more effectively. This may just turn into a race journal but we'll see...

7/1 - 3 miles - 22:30 (7:30/mile)
7/2 - 3 miles - 24:00 (8:00/mile)

Still just running on a treadmill and I can tell I'm slipping a bit. I'll try and push hard the next few days to pick it up a little bit.
